What it is
LMKdad is the dad in your pocket. It has short, step-by-step lessons for the things a dad teaches, like changing a flat or making a budget, in a warm, steady voice. Every morning there's a 60-second Daily Charge, and every Monday at 8am a new weekly drop lands. Your answers stay on your phone.
How to get started
- Install LMKdad from the public TestFlight link on this page while it's in beta, then open it and tap Continue.
- Answer "Who's this for?" (Myself, I'm a teen, or I'm a dad teaching my kid) so the lessons fit you.
- Pick a time for your Daily Charge (5:00, 5:30, 6:00 or 7:00) and allow notifications so it can remind you.
- Write a letter to yourself that opens in two years, or tap "Write it later".
- Open the Ask Dad tab, search for a skill like "tie" or "budget", follow the steps, and tap "I did it".
Questions
What's the difference between Ask Dad, Today and Drops?
Ask Dad is the library of step-by-step life skills, with paths, badges and a skill of the day. Today holds your 60-second Daily Charge. Drops is where each week's new module lives. A new one lands every Monday at 8am your time.
Is LMKdad OK for teens?
Yes. Choose "I'm a teen" and you get a teen-friendly library that hides the money and relationship lessons. Anyone can switch it on or off in Settings under Ask Dad.
What if I'm going through a hard time?
Tap the life-preserver button at the top of Today to open Right Now. It puts crisis lines first (call or text 988 any time), then breathing and cool-down tools. Between midnight and 5am it opens in a quieter 3 AM mode. LMKdad is general information, not medical advice.
What does "Your season" do?
In Settings, Your season lets you pick what you're going through. It changes which drops come first, how forgiving your streak is, and which tools show. Off-Week tools are for dads who are apart from their kids part of the time.
How does the streak work if I miss a day?
Charge 7 days and you bank a hall pass (you can hold 2). Miss a day and a pass covers it on its own. In a hard season, grace covers a missed day or two, up to three times.
Is LMKdad free?
Yes. LMKdad: Free. LMKdev apps have no paywall on the core of the app and never show forced ads (no banners, no pop-up ads). Optional tips, and in some apps optional videos you choose to watch, help pay for the next app.
Are the LMKdad widgets free?
Yes. Widgets are always free in every LMKdev app — never behind a tip, an ad or a sign-in. Long-press your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for the app.
What does LMKdad do with my data?
Every question, module and line ships inside the app and is answered on your phone. There is no code path in LMKdad that transmits a reflection, a check-in, or an answer — the audit looked for one specifically, because that is the whole promise. Do I need an account?
No. Signing in with an LMKdev ID is optional — it backs up and syncs your progress across devices. The app works fully without it.
How do I suggest a feature or a new app?
Let Me Know — that's what LMK stands for. Email hello@lmkdev.com with your idea for LMKdad (or for a whole new app); a person reads every one. Apps by the people, for the people: if your idea ships, you can choose to be credited by name.
Troubleshooting
- I'm not getting the morning reminder or the Monday drop alert. Make sure notifications are allowed for LMKdad in your iPhone Settings. Then open LMKdad Settings, check "Pause the reminder" is off, and pick your charge time again.
- I can't find money or relationship lessons. The teen-friendly library is on. Open Settings (the button at the top right of Today) and turn off "Teen-friendly library" under Ask Dad.
- I want to move my setup to a new phone. Sign in with LMK ID in Settings before you switch. It saves your setup so a new phone picks up where this one left off. Your answers never leave the phone either way.
Still stuck? Email support@lmkdev.com and say which app and device — a person reads every one. More on the LMKdad support page.
