LedgerKeeper — Help & FAQ
📒 In public beta (TestFlight) · iPhone · iPad · Apple Watch · Widgets · Free
What it is
LedgerKeeper is a private home-finance app. You enter your income, housing, expenses and balances, and it shows where your money goes, what you're saving, and a plan to pay off your debts. There's no bank connection and no account needed. The math happens on your phone and stays there.
How to get started
- Install LedgerKeeper from the public TestFlight link on this page while it's in beta, then open it.
- Choose "Start with the Classic template" for a ready-made household layout you can rename, or "Start blank" to build your own.
- On the Money tab, open a section and tap "Add item" to enter your real monthly amounts.
- On the Balances tab, tap "Record snapshot" to save today's account and debt balances.
- Open "Debt Freedom Plan" on the Balances tab to see a payoff plan and the date you're clear.
Questions
Does LedgerKeeper connect to my bank?
No. You type your numbers in yourself, and that's on purpose. Without an account, nothing ever leaves your phone, and the app works in airplane mode forever.
Can I type math into an amount?
Yes. Amount fields accept simple math, so you can type something like 46/3 or 310+277 and it works out the total for you.
Snowball or avalanche: what's the difference?
Both are ways to pay off debt, and the Debt Freedom Plan lets you pick either. Avalanche pays the highest interest rate first. Snowball pays the smallest balance first. Each shows the date you'd be debt-free.
What is the runway cushion?
It's how many months your cash would cover what you spend. On the Balances tab, tap the banknote icon next to an asset section to count it toward your runway.
What's in the Tools tab?
Built-in calculators: mortgage and ownership cost, refinance, card payoff, take-home pay, rent affordability, zakat and more. They're estimates to think with, not financial advice. Nothing you enter there leaves your phone.
Is LedgerKeeper free?
Yes. LedgerKeeper: Free. LMKdev apps have no paywall on the core of the app and never show forced ads (no banners, no pop-up ads). Optional tips, and in some apps optional videos you choose to watch, help pay for the next app.
Are the LedgerKeeper widgets free?
Yes. Widgets are always free in every LMKdev app — never behind a tip, an ad or a sign-in. Long-press your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for the app.
What does LedgerKeeper do with my data?
LedgerKeeper holds your whole financial picture and is built so that we cannot see any of it. With no account it is fully functional in airplane mode forever and transmits nothing. If you turn on backup, your ledger is encrypted on your phone with a passphrase we never receive — we store an opaque blob and could not read it if we wanted to. App Store privacy label: Data Not Linked to You — unless you sign in. Full details: https://lmkdev.com/apps/ledgerkeeper/privacy.
Do I need an account?
No. Signing in with an LMKdev ID is optional — it backs up and syncs your progress across devices. The app works fully without it.
How do I suggest a feature or a new app?
Let Me Know — that's what LMK stands for. Email hello@lmkdev.com with your idea for LedgerKeeper (or for a whole new app); a person reads every one. Apps by the people, for the people: if your idea ships, you can choose to be credited by name.
Troubleshooting
- I'm moving to a new phone and don't want to lose my ledger. In Settings, sign in with LMK ID, then tap "Back up now" under Encrypted backup and set a passphrase. On the new phone, sign in and tap "Restore from backup". Restoring replaces what's on that phone, it doesn't merge.
- I forgot my backup passphrase. We can't reset it. Your backup is encrypted on your phone with a passphrase we never receive, so there's no reset link. Your ledger on your current phone is still there. Make a new backup with a passphrase you'll remember.
- An item I swiped away is gone. Swiping archives an item, it doesn't delete it. Go to Settings, find it under Archived, and tap Restore.
- My widget or Apple Watch shows old numbers. LedgerKeeper sends fresh numbers to the widget and your watch when you leave the app. Open LedgerKeeper, then go back to your Home Screen.
Still stuck? Email support@lmkdev.com and say which app and device — a person reads every one. More on the LedgerKeeper support page.
